Om Det sidste hurra
Dette er det sidste hurra for en lille agtværdig flok af gamle egetræer. I mere end hundrede år beskyttede et hegn af lave, forvredne egetræer (egekrat) det lokale landbrugsland mod sandfygning og den iskolde vind fra Østersøen. Med tiden tog højere vegetation af fyr og birk over og har nu i vidt omfang omsluttet egetræerne. Høj alder og tabet af lys og luft har dømt disse sidste krigere til at blive besejret af parasitter. Træerne i billedet repræsenterer en typisk reminiscens af ege-æraen, som stadig kan opleves i Hagestad Reservat i Österlen i Skåne.
About The Last Hurray
This is the last hurrah for a small honorable flock of old oak trees. For more than hundred years a fence of low and twisted oaks (oak thicket) protected the local farmland against sand drift and the icy cold from the Baltic Sea. In time higher vegetation of pine and birch took over and has now widely enclosed the oak trees. Old age and loss of light and air has deemed these last warriors to be defeated by parasites. The trees in the photo represent a typical reminiscence of the oak era that can still be experienced in Hagestad Preserve in Österlen in Scania.
