A steep stairway, a small entrance and a murder-hole right above are all elements of the defence system. Glimmingehus in Scania is the best preserved, and for its time the most secure, medieval manor in Scandinavia. It was established 1499–1506 as the imposing residence for the Danish knight Jens Holgersen Ulfstand and his family.
